The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa, has insisted that the Federal Government will no longer engage in any form of negotiation with terrorists or support the payment of ransom for kidnapped victims.
Speaking on Wednesday, Gen. Musa emphasized that negotiating with criminal elements only strengthens their operations and encourages further acts of violence. He noted that terrorism continues to thrive when perpetrators believe they can extort money or concessions from the public or government authorities.
The Defence Minister reiterated that the government is committed to adopting firm, coordinated, and intelligence-driven security operations to dismantle terror networks across the country. He urged citizens, communities, and local leaders to cooperate with security agencies and resist any pressure to pay ransom, stressing that doing so directly funds criminal activities.
Gen. Musa reaffirmed that the military remains fully prepared to confront insecurity head-on and restore lasting peace nationwide, assuring Nigerians that the days of terrorists dictating terms are over.
