The Federal Government has directed the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to immediately halt the enforcement of its ban on sachet alcohol and 200ml PET bottle alcoholic products.
According to Vanguard, the directive orders NAFDAC to cease all enforcement actions related to the restriction, citing concerns over potential economic and security implications.
The development marks a significant shift in the implementation of the policy, which had targeted the production and distribution of alcoholic beverages packaged in sachets and small PET bottles.
Further details on the duration of the suspension and the government’s next steps were not immediately disclosed.
