President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday held a closed-door meeting with top security chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja amid growing concerns over rising terror attacks in parts of the country.
The meeting, which lasted nearly two hours, began in the afternoon after the security chiefs arrived discreetly at the State House. It ended at about 5:10 p.m.
Among those in attendance were the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, and the Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, alongside other senior security officials.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Defence Minister Christopher Musa dismissed reports suggesting that terrorist groups and bandits were gaining ground, insisting that Nigerian security forces were recording significant successes in ongoing operations.
According to him, many terrorist and bandit commanders have been eliminated in recent operations.
“Contrary to the slanted reports by the media, the terrorists and bandits are taking more casualties. Their commanders are being killed every day. We are sure of victory,” Musa said.
The meeting comes as security agencies intensify efforts to curb insurgency, banditry, and other violent attacks across several parts of the country.
