A former Edo State Commissioner for Education, Paddy Iyamu, has officially declared his intention to contest for the Oredo Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, just days after stepping down from his position.
Iyamu made the declaration at the APC Secretariat in Oredo Local Government Area, in the presence of key party stakeholders. Among those in attendance were the State Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Engr. Lawrence Okah; former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Uyi Igbe; ex-member of the House of Representatives, Patrick Obahiagbon; and former State Youth Leader, Valentine Asue, among others.
Speaking at the event, Iyamu refuted speculations about his political allegiance, stating that he has been a committed member of the APC since 2016. According to him, his involvement in grassroots mobilization and empowerment initiatives across the constituency has been consistent and not driven by political ambition.
He also referenced his relationship with Osagie Ize-Iyamu, noting that his contributions to party-building efforts and campaign activities in both the 2020 and 2024 election cycles are well documented.
Iyamu further dismissed claims that he had been rejected at the ward level, describing such allegations as false and politically motivated. He maintained that his record of loyalty, service, and support for party candidates contradicts the narrative being circulated.
He emphasized that his political journey has been rooted in dedication to the party and the development of the Oredo constituency.
