Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has launched a scathing attack on the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the party as unfit to participate meaningfully in Nigeria’s political process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a strongly worded statement, Fani-Kayode claimed that the party has effectively lost its political footing following what he described as setbacks from the courts and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He argued that the ADC no longer has a viable platform to contest future elections.
According to him, the party has suffered widespread rejection from regulatory institutions, its alleged original founders, and the Nigerian public due to what he characterized as internal disunity, lack of discipline, and weak leadership.
Fani-Kayode further questioned the party’s capacity to govern, stating that a group unable to maintain cohesion within its ranks cannot be entrusted with national leadership. He advised members of the ADC to focus on rebuilding and forming a more credible opposition platform over the next five years, rather than aiming for the 2027 elections.
The former minister also accused the party of relying on propaganda, social media campaigns, and external influence instead of presenting practical solutions to national challenges.
While maintaining that the ADC faces significant political challenges, he urged its members to remain calm, suggesting that a long-term rebuilding strategy may offer a more realistic path forward.
The comments have added to ongoing political discourse surrounding party readiness and alignment ahead of Nigeria’s next general elections.
