The Nigeria Police Force has raised a nationwide security alert following intelligence indicating that terrorist elements may be planning coordinated attacks on churches, schools, NYSC orientation camps and other vulnerable locations across the country.
According to the security alert, areas of particular concern include parts of the North-East, North-West and North-Central regions, as well as some locations in the South-West.
Police commanders across the affected areas have been directed to strengthen security measures around potential targets and intensify surveillance, intelligence gathering and patrol operations.
Security personnel have also been advised to maintain heightened vigilance around religious centres, educational institutions, NYSC facilities and other locations considered vulnerable to attacks.
The police urged communities and members of the public to remain alert and promptly report suspicious movements, persons or activities to the nearest security agency.
Religious leaders, school authorities and NYSC officials have equally been encouraged to review their security arrangements and cooperate closely with law enforcement agencies to prevent any possible attack.
The latest alert comes amid continued security concerns in parts of the country, underscoring the need for increased vigilance and timely information-sharing between security agencies and the public.
Authorities have appealed to Nigerians to remain calm but vigilant, stressing that security is a collective responsibility.
