The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Board for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (EdoBTVET), Mrs. Onomen Briggs, Esq., has inspected the Benin Technical College (BTC) as part of the Board’s ongoing resumption compliance monitoring exercise across technical and vocational schools in the state.
During the visit, Briggs urged students and teachers to embrace discipline, hard work and commitment, stressing that these values were essential to achieving excellence in technical education and building successful careers.
The Chairman, who interacted with newly admitted students, encouraged them to take their studies seriously and make the most of the opportunities provided by the institution.
She urged the students to pay particular attention to practical learning, noting that the technical skills acquired during their training would prepare them for future employment, entrepreneurship and other career opportunities.
Addressing the Principal and teaching staff, Briggs emphasised the need for punctuality, dedication and professionalism in the discharge of their responsibilities.
She noted that teachers had a responsibility beyond classroom instruction, describing them as important contributors to the development, character and future of the students entrusted to their care.
The Chairman called on the school management and teachers to maintain high educational standards and provide students with the quality instruction, mentorship and guidance required to excel in their chosen fields.
The visit was part of EdoBTVET’s ongoing monitoring exercise aimed at assessing school resumption, ensuring compliance with established standards and strengthening effective teaching and learning across the state’s technical and vocational institutions.
Briggs was accompanied by the Edo South Board Member, Aljah Salimat Momodu; Director of Learning and Development, Mr. Benedict Irabor; and Director of Planning and Research, Mrs. Blessing Odion.
The monitoring exercise further demonstrated EdoBTVET’s commitment to promoting discipline, accountability and quality skills development in technical schools across the state.
The initiative aligns with the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s drive to equip young people with relevant knowledge, technical skills and practical competencies that will enable them to become productive and self-reliant members of society.
