The Management of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), led by the Chief Medical Director, Prof. (Mrs.) Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu, paid a courtesy visit to the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC).

The visit was aimed at strengthening partnership towards improved service delivery, reducing the hospital’s cost on tariff plans, and exploring broader areas of collaboration that will enhance the institution’s operations.

During the meeting, Prof. Ize-Iyamu emphasized the critical role of reliable power supply in healthcare delivery, noting:

She further highlighted that access to stable and affordable power would greatly improve efficiency in the hospital’s day-to-day activities and ultimately impact patient care positively.

In his response, Engr. Jonathan Lawani, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of BEDC, warmly welcomed the UBTH

delegation. He congratulated Prof. Ize-Iyamu on her appointment as the first female Chief Medical Director of UBTH and assured that their requests would be given due consideration at the company’s management and board meetings.

The discussions underscored UBTH’s commitment to partnerships that support sustainable healthcare delivery.
