The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has fixed November 5, 2026, for the commencement of its campaign for the 2027 general elections, with Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Local Government Area, selected as the starting point.
Director-General of the Delta APC Campaign Council, Senator James Manager, announced the date on Tuesday during an interactive meeting with campaign council members, directors, party candidates, local government chairmen, party chairmen and grassroots campaign coordinators in Asaba.
Manager said the decision to begin the campaign in Isoko Nation was deliberate, adding that the exercise would eventually end in Okpe Local Government Area on a date and at a venue to be announced later.
He urged party candidates to intensify preparations for the elections, stressing that the time available required commitment, proactive engagement and effective coordination among party members.
The campaign council director-general also called on candidates to look beyond their individual ambitions and work collectively to advance the interests of the party and its candidates across the state.
“Whatever you are doing, please do it for everybody. As a candidate, whatever you are doing, do it for Mr President, do it for the governor and do it for the entire APC family,” Manager said.
He expressed the need for a united campaign strategy to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other APC candidates contesting the 2027 elections.
Manager Tasks Candidates on Mobilisation
Manager urged candidates to use available communication channels, including social media, to publicise the party’s programmes and achievements while remaining focused on their campaign responsibilities.
He explained that the meeting was organised to address questions and concerns arising from the inauguration of the campaign council and to provide an opportunity for party leaders, candidates and grassroots coordinators to exchange views.
According to him, the gathering was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen coordination and ensure that the campaign structure operates effectively at all levels.
The former senator also directed local government campaign committees to submit their membership lists by Wednesday to enable the council to identify their composition and improve planning.
He stressed the importance of reaching communities and wards across Delta State, urging local organisers to identify capable representatives who could mobilise support at the grassroots.
Manager said the success of the campaign would depend on the active participation of party members and the ability of candidates to work together towards their shared electoral objectives.
Arenyeka Calls for Unity
Earlier, the Delta APC chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, described the meeting as an important step towards the commencement of the party’s campaign for the 2027 general elections.
Arenyeka commended the campaign council leadership for its efforts to establish the necessary structures and urged party stakeholders to cooperate in pursuing the party’s electoral objectives.
The November 5 campaign launch in Oleh is expected to mark the beginning of the APC’s statewide mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections, with further activities planned across local government areas and communities in Delta State.
