A social commentator and convener of Wong Box Nigeria has urged Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, to prioritize governance over political campaigns, following the governor’s reported declaration that his mission is to deliver President Bola Ahmed Tinubu a second term in the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement addressed to Deltans, the activist argued that attention should be focused on addressing pressing socio-economic challenges confronting residents rather than discussing the next general election.
According to the statement, many residents are still grappling with poor electricity supply, deteriorating roads, unemployment, and harsh economic conditions affecting businesses across the state.
The group questioned the wisdom of promoting a second-term bid for the president when, in its view, many citizens believe key campaign promises are yet to be fulfilled.
It called on the Oborevwori administration to channel its efforts toward improving electricity, rehabilitating roads, creating employment opportunities, and supporting businesses to boost economic growth.
The activist further warned that failure to address these concerns could influence the voting decisions of many residents in future elections.
“Elections are not won by speeches; they are won by performance. Performance is the best campaign not propaganda,” the statement concluded.
