A Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, Ossai Ovie Success, has called on Senator Ned Nwoko to step aside should former Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, decide to contest the Delta North senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
Ossai made the remarks in a statement shared on his Facebook page, where he argued that Okowa’s political track record and experience make him better suited for the Senate.
According to him, Nwoko’s emergence as senator was largely influenced by Okowa’s political structure, adding that it would be appropriate for the incumbent lawmaker to “honour” the former governor by not opposing him if he joins the race.
He maintained that while Nwoko has made his own contributions, Okowa’s performance as a former council chairman, commissioner, senator, and governor stands out, particularly in Delta North.
Ossai further claimed that many constituents in the district are eager to see Okowa return to the Senate to continue initiatives he began before becoming governor.
“The only way Ned Nwoko will retain the seat is if Okowa declines to answer the call from the people,” he stated, expressing disappointment at the possibility of Okowa not contesting.
He concluded by urging the former governor to heed calls from his supporters and rejoin the Senate race in 2027.
