Tanzania’s electoral commission has officially declared President Samia Suluhu Hassan the winner of this week’s presidential election, after she garnered an overwhelming 97.66 percent of the total votes cast.
The resounding victory cements President Samia’s leadership and marks a significant moment in the country’s political landscape. The ruling party celebrated the results as a strong endorsement of her administration’s policies and vision for Tanzania’s continued development.
Opposition figures, however, have called for greater transparency in the electoral process, citing concerns over fairness and voter participation.
President Samia, who became Tanzania’s first female head of state in 2021, is now set to continue her leadership with a renewed mandate.
