Uchechi Okwu-Kanu, wife of detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, has condemned the manner in which information about her husband’s transfer to the Sokoto correctional facility was handled, saying she was not informed before the news went public.
Reacting in a post on X on Friday, Okwu-Kanu said she only learned of the development “about three hours ago,” despite the fact that some of Kanu’s associates had visited him earlier in the day.
She expressed frustration that those who saw her husband failed to brief her directly but instead rushed to announce the transfer on social media.
“Those who went to see him today did not give me any update on his transfer. Rather, they ran to social media to broadcast it,” she wrote.
Her reaction comes amid heightened concerns among supporters over Kanu’s safety and the implications of his relocation.
