Following the withdrawal of 11,566 police personnel previously assigned as orderlies and escorts, several prominent Nigerians are now turning their attention to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for alternative security protection.
Sources indicate that many VIPs—who suddenly found themselves without police escorts after the directive took effect—have begun making inquiries and preparing applications to the NSCDC for official security support.
The move comes after authorities ordered the massive recall of police officers attached to individuals, organisations, and unauthorized private duties, as part of efforts to strengthen regular policing and address manpower shortages.
With the recall now creating a vacuum in personal security arrangements for many high-profile individuals, the NSCDC is witnessing a surge in interest from those seeking reliable replacement escorts.
