Tunde Bakare, founder of the Citadel Global Community Church, has criticised the National Assembly for what he described as its fixation on politics while the United States Congress convened a hearing on Nigeria’s deepening security crisis.
Delivering his State of the Nation Address on Sunday in Lagos, Bakare said Nigerian lawmakers have failed to rise to the occasion at a time the country needs decisive leadership. He lamented that instead of addressing escalating insecurity, elected representatives appear more concerned with political maneuvering.
His comments follow the redesignation of Nigeria as a “country of particular concern” by U.S. President Donald Trump, as well as the November 20 congressional hearing focused on the country’s worsening security challenges.
