Delta State House of Assembly has commended the State Ministry of Urban Renewal and Physical Planning for what it described as an impressive and commendable budget performance in the outgoing 2025 fiscal year.
The Chairman of the Committee, Hon Pereotu Oloye, gave the commendation when the Commissioner in charge of the Ministry, Mr Michael Anoka led officials to the State Assembly Complex in Asaba to defend its 2026 budget proposal before the Lawmakers.
Hon Oloye said the committee’s assessment was based on verifiable records presented by the ministry, noting that the Ministry of Urban Renewal and Physical Planning had demonstrated remarkable commitment to its mandate.
The Lawmaker flanked by other members of the committee, expressed confidence that with the improved budgetary provisions proposed for 2026, the ministry would deliver even greater results in alignment with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda which geared towards advancing sustainable development, urban revitalization, and improved quality of life across the state.
While applauding the ministry’s efforts, Oloye who represents Burutu 11 Constituency, however, frowned at minor discrepancies observed in some of the ministry’s documentation processes.
He urged the officials to effect the necessary corrections promptly to uphold transparency, accountability, and procedural accuracy.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Urban Renewal, Mr. Michael Anoka, affirmed that the ministry had made significant strides in the year under review and was poised to consolidate on its achievements.
He revealed that the ministry had concluded plans to ramp up internally generated revenue through enhanced physical planning initiatives set to commence fully in 2026.
Mr. Anoka further disclosed that the highly anticipated Asaba and Warri Master Plan designed to guide the structured development of the state’s two major urban centers was nearing completion and would be unveiled soon.
Other members of the House Committee present at the defence session included Hon. Ferguson Onwo, Hon. Festus Okoh, Hon. Augustine Uroye and Hon. Alfred Martins.
Also in attendance were the Permanent Secretary of the ministry and key Directors who provided technical insights into the ministry’s performance and projections.
