Delta State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), in partnership with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), the Federal Ministry of Education (FME) and the British Council, is organising a five-day capacity building workshop aimed at strengthening teachers’ digital teaching skills in the State.

The training is sequel to the successful completion of Effective Schools Programme (ESP) workshop Phases 1 and 2.

The programme with the themed, “Producing Digitally Literate Teachers,” is scheduled to hold from Monday, 15th to Friday, 19th December 2025, at Anglican Girls Grammar School, Ughelli

A joint statement by the Executive Chairman Delta SUBEB, Hon Samuel Mariere, and the Director of Teacher Development, Mrs Eru Ezefili, explained that the STRIDE programme is designed to develop teachers’ digital literacy, knowledge and attitudes towards the effective use of technology in education.

While the SPRINT is an online course that leverages platforms and digital tools to deliver engaging and interactive lessons.

“The workshop is structured to equip teachers with essential digital skills, enhance their online teaching capabilities, and promote the effective use of technology in classroom instruction.”

The statement adds that a total of 94 teachers drawn from the Effective schools across the State are participating in the workshop, which is an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education in collaboration with the British Council.

It noted that the initiative aligns with the ongoing efforts of the state government to modernize basic education and ensure that teachers are adequately prepared to meet the demands of 21st-century teaching and learning.

The statement listed objectives of the programme to include improving classroom delivery through technology integration, and enhancing the online teaching capabilities in Mathematics, Science and English language as well as developing a pool of teachers who are digitally literate using technology in the classrooms.

The training is expected to significantly boost the production of digitally literate teachers capable of integrating smart education practices in primary schools.

With this collaboration, Delta SUBEB has reaffirmed its commitment to improving the quality of basic education through strategic partnerships and the continuous professional development of teachers.
