Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, senator representing Kogi Central, has announced the commencement of an electric motor vehicle (EMV) training programme for her constituents under an operate-and-own model.
The senator made the announcement on Friday, describing the initiative as part of the Kogi Central constituency development programme aimed at empowering residents with practical skills and sustainable livelihoods.
According to Akpoti-Uduaghan, the programme goes beyond the distribution of vehicles, focusing instead on long-term capacity building and the creation of durable systems within the constituency.
“This programme is not just about distributing vehicles; it is about building capacity and systems that will last,” she said.
She added that the EMV training scheme is designed to equip beneficiaries with the technical knowledge required to operate, maintain and eventually own electric vehicles, while also supporting the transition to cleaner and more sustainable transportation solutions in the district.
