The Lagos State Government has warned content creators and digital media producers against using children in online content that violates child protection laws.
The warning was contained in a joint statement issued on Monday by Mobolaji Ogunlende, Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, and Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (LSDSVA).
The officials expressed serious concern over what they described as the growing portrayal and involvement of children in digital content capable of undermining their dignity and wellbeing.
They stressed that depicting children in harmful, abusive, or exploitative situations — even under the guise of entertainment or social media trends — is not only unethical but also a direct violation of existing child protection laws in the state.
The government urged content creators to act responsibly and ensure that all media involving children complies strictly with legal and moral standards designed to safeguard their rights and welfare.
