Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has extended Easter greetings to Christians worldwide, emphasizing Israel’s commitment to religious freedom even as regional tensions escalate.
In a message addressed to Christian communities in Israel, the United States, and across the globe, Netanyahu wished believers a “blessed and joyful Easter,” highlighting the significance of the holiday as a time of renewal, hope, and faith.
The prime minister noted that Christians face persecution in several parts of the Middle East, including Syria, Lebanon, Nigeria, and Turkey. He contrasted this with Israel’s record, stating that the country “alone protects” its Christian community, which he said is growing and prospering.
Referencing ongoing security challenges, Netanyahu pointed to missile threats targeting Jerusalem, describing the city as sacred and central to the Christian story. He also reaffirmed Israel’s alliance with the United States in confronting the Iran and what he described as its “terror proxies.”
“Even under fire, our commitment is unwavering,” Netanyahu said, stressing Israel’s dedication to defending life, safeguarding liberty, and ensuring freedom of worship for all faiths.
He concluded his message by expressing hope that the spirit of Easter would bring light and encouragement to believers around the world.
