Passengers using the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses introduced by Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, have commended the initiative for providing relief from transportation challenges, while urging the government to improve coordination and service delivery.
The passengers, who spoke in separate interviews at Ramat Park in Benin City, described the initiative as a welcome development capable of easing the daily commuting burden on residents.
One of the passengers, Madam Jane Omosede, expressed appreciation to the governor for what she described as his efforts to improve the welfare of ordinary residents.
“On my own, I appreciate the governor for what he is doing. He is trying for the masses. He is really helping us,” she said.
Similarly, Mr David Imohimi described the CNG bus service as a positive intervention, commending the state government for introducing the buses to address transportation difficulties.
“The bus is very okay. This is wonderful and very okay. The government has done excellently,” he said.
However, Imohimi called for improved coordination of the service and wider availability of payment cards to make it easier for commuters to access the buses.
Another passenger, Engineer Sule Danladi, also praised the governor for providing the buses but appealed for better boarding arrangements to minimise delays and help passengers arrive at their workplaces on time.
“The government has tried and done its own part by bringing us these buses. But this coordination, I appeal to the government to improve,” he said.
The commuters acknowledged the potential benefits of the CNG bus initiative, particularly in easing transportation difficulties for residents who depend on public transport for their daily activities.
They nevertheless stressed that improved organisation, more accessible payment cards and efficient boarding arrangements would enhance the overall commuting experience.
The passengers expressed optimism that addressing these concerns would make the service more accessible and enable more residents to benefit from the state government’s transportation intervention.
The initiative forms part of the Edo State Government’s efforts to ease the transportation burden on residents, with commuters calling for sustained improvements to ensure efficient and reliable service delivery.
