Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Funke Akindele, has opened up about why she no longer attends church services physically.
In a video shared via her Snapchat account, Akindele explained that her decision was influenced by the level of attention she receives during services, which she said often shifts focus away from worship.
According to her, congregants frequently take photos of her whenever she attends, making it difficult to fully participate in the service. As a result, she now prefers to join church services online.
The actress, however, reaffirmed her strong Christian faith and longstanding connection to the Celestial Church of Christ. She previously disclosed that she was born and raised in the church and remains spiritually connected to it.
Akindele recounted that during challenging periods in her life, she would quietly return to her childhood parish in areas such as Mile 12, Alapere, and Ojota in Lagos, often attending night services where she experienced personal breakthroughs.
In 2022, she publicly embraced her identity as a member of the Celestial Church, stating that she would no longer keep her affiliation private.
She also encouraged her fans to remain prayerful and commit their plans to God, emphasizing the importance of divine guidance in decision-making.
Additionally, Akindele appealed to her supporters to remember her in their prayers, expressing her desire for continued success, protection, and longevity in her career and personal life.
