The All Progressives Congress (APC) has screened Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, ahead of the party’s governorship primary election, clearing him to contest for a second term under the party’s platform.
The screening exercise was held in Abuja, where Governor Oborevwori appeared before the APC Screening Committee led by the party’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda.
After reviewing the governor’s credentials and other required documents, the committee reportedly confirmed that he met all conditions necessary to participate in the party’s governorship race.
At the end of the exercise, Prof. Yilwatda reportedly told the governor to “take a bow and go,” a remark widely interpreted as a sign of approval and confidence in his candidacy.
Governor Oborevwori is expected to seek re-election in the 2027 Delta State governorship election and is said to be going into the contest unopposed within the party, following endorsements linked to his administration’s developmental projects across the state.
The APC screening marks a major step in the build-up to the 2027 governorship election in Delta State.
