Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Tuesday offered thanksgiving to God following what he described as the peaceful and successful conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections in the state.
Speaking during a morning devotion service at the Government House Chapel in Asaba, the governor expressed gratitude to God for the unity, stability, and support enjoyed by his administration.
Oborevwori said he came to appreciate God for His faithfulness and for the calm atmosphere that characterized the APC primaries across Delta State.
According to him, thanksgiving has always remained an important part of his life after every victory and achievement, stressing that gratitude to God should not depend on circumstances.
“First, I want to thank God today for keeping us to this day. Thank God for all that He has done for us and for the show of love that Deltans have shown to this administration,” the governor said.
Quoting Psalm 100 verse 4, Oborevwori noted that believers are expected to enter God’s presence with thanksgiving and praise.
“So, I have come here to return the glory to God who has made everything possible. No crisis, no fights, nothing. Everything went peacefully,” he stated.
The governor described the just-concluded APC primary elections as one of the smoothest political exercises witnessed in the state in recent times, especially when compared with previous election experiences.
“If you know what we went through in the 2022 primaries, we have every reason to thank God that everything went well,” he added.
Oborevwori also cautioned political supporters against idolizing public office holders, reminding them that service to God should remain paramount.
“You are not serving me, you are serving God. Salvation is personal,” he said, while encouraging citizens to remain thankful for life, good health, and God’s blessings.
The governor observed that many people may possess wealth without having the good health required to enjoy it, stressing that good health alone is enough reason to appreciate God.
He commended those who have sustained prayer activities at the Government House Chapel, particularly the regular Monday-to-Friday prayer sessions.
Oborevwori further disclosed that the Delta State Government would hold its annual thanksgiving service on Friday as part of activities marking his third anniversary in office and to appreciate God for His guidance and blessings over the state.
