Senator Francis Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East Senatorial District, has allegedly called on his supporters to attack and kill members of the Accord Party ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.
In a video circulating on social media, including a post shared on X by Afrobeat singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, Fadahunsi was heard speaking in Yoruba and purportedly directing his supporters to lynch members of the opposition party.
“From now on, whenever you see Accord members, kill them. I authorise you to kill them. They have wives and children too,” the senator was quoted as saying in the video.
The alleged remarks have raised fresh concerns about political violence in Osun State, where tensions have intensified as the governorship election approaches.
Fadahunsi, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been actively involved in the party’s campaign ahead of the poll. He had earlier vowed that the APC would defeat Governor Ademola Adeleke at the August 15 election.
The allegation also comes amid existing tensions between APC and Accord supporters in the state. In July, Accord candidates accused the APC of using security agencies to intimidate opposition members, while the APC has rejected allegations that its leaders are responsible for political violence.
The authenticity and full context of the circulating video, as well as Fadahunsi’s response to the allegation, could not immediately be independently established from the available reports.
The alleged call for violence comes less than a week before the August 15 governorship election, heightening concerns among political observers over the need for restraint and a peaceful electoral process.
