ABUJA — President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mr Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF), with effect from August 27, 2026.

The appointment was announced on Wednesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, via his official X platform.

Enitan will succeed Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who is set to retire from the Federal Civil Service after attaining the statutory retirement age of 60.

According to the Presidency, Enitan, an indigene of Osun State, is currently the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service.

He has served as a Permanent Secretary for seven years and seven months, during which he held positions at the Ministry of Police Affairs, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and the Office of the Vice President.

He is currently the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education.

The Presidency said Enitan’s extensive experience and knowledge of the workings of the Federal Civil Service positioned him for the new responsibility.

President Tinubu commended the outgoing Head of Service, Walson-Jack, for her dedicated service to the nation, particularly the reforms, innovations and other achievements recorded in the Civil Service during her tenure.

The President wished her a fulfilling post-service life and expressed appreciation for her years of commitment to public service.

Tinubu tasked Enitan with consolidating ongoing reforms and innovations in the Civil Service while deepening professionalism, efficiency and accountability across the system.

He also charged the incoming Head of Service to build a more effective and responsive Civil Service capable of delivering on the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The President urged Enitan to ensure that the Civil Service remains professional, merit-driven, accountable, innovative and responsive to the needs and aspirations of Nigerians.
