The Edo State Government has appointed veteran broadcaster and journalist, Festus Alenkhe, as the substantive Managing Director of the Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS).
The appointment was approved by the Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and takes immediate effect.
According to a statement issued by the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, on Monday, September 21, 2026, the appointment is part of the government’s efforts to strengthen the leadership and professional capacity of the state-owned broadcasting service.
Alenkhe, who has extensive experience in journalism, broadcasting and public service, previously served as Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, and Chairman of the Nigerian Red Cross, Edo State Branch.
Prior to his confirmation as substantive Managing Director, Alenkhe served as Acting Managing Director of the Edo Broadcasting Service, where the government said he demonstrated effective leadership and commitment to the advancement of the organisation.
The state government said his appointment is expected to contribute to improved service delivery and the continued development of the Edo Broadcasting Service.
The statement was signed by Ikhilor, who described the appointment as part of the administration’s commitment to enhancing the professional capacity and effectiveness of the state’s media organisation.
