BENIN CITY, Edo — Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will win the 2027 general elections in the state.

Okpebholo spoke on Tuesday during an APC mobilisation rally in Ologbo Wards 9 and 10, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, where he presented the party’s candidates for the forthcoming elections.

The governor said the APC had established a strong structure across Edo and was well positioned ahead of the 2027 polls.

He urged party members and supporters to remain united and committed to the party’s programmes, saying the ongoing mobilisation was aimed at strengthening the APC at the grassroots and securing support for its candidates.

Among the candidates presented at the rally were Ogbeide Ihama for the Senate, Felix Igbinovia for the House of Representatives and Clement Ikponmwonsa for the Edo State House of Assembly.

Okpebholo thanked residents for their support for his administration and assured them that his government would continue to focus on the development of the state.

He also commended residents who attended the rally despite the rainfall and expressed confidence that the APC would consolidate its support across Edo ahead of the elections.

Speaking at the event, Edo APC Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, said the party was targeting 2.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in Edo State in the 2027 presidential election.

Tenebe said the party had commenced mobilisation across the state’s 18 local government areas as part of efforts to achieve the target.

He added that Governor Okpebholo and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa, had been visiting communities and engaging party members to strengthen the APC ahead of the elections.

The APC chairman urged members to work collectively towards achieving the party’s electoral objectives.

Also speaking, the APC chairman in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, Sunny Ogbewe, said the governor’s visit had boosted the morale of party members in the area.

Ogbewe described Ikpoba-Okha as one of the local government areas with a high number of registered voters in Edo and said the party would work to secure substantial support for its candidates.

He said the APC had commenced grassroots mobilisation and would continue engaging residents and party members ahead of the elections.

Ogbewe also commended Okpebholo for projects and interventions in the area, as well as the chairman of the Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Council for supporting the administration’s development agenda.

The governor’s visit formed part of the APC’s ongoing mobilisation activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The statement was signed by Dr Patrick Akhere Ebojele, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Monday Okpebholo, on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
