BENIN CITY — The Nigerian Army is set to commence a sensitisation campaign for prospective applicants of its 92nd Regular Recruits Intake (RRI) in Edo State.
The exercise is scheduled to run from October 5 to 12, 2026, as part of efforts to increase awareness and encourage more qualified youths in the state to apply for the recruitment exercise.
The Army disclosed this in a letter signed by Maj.-Gen. I.M. Abdullahi on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff and addressed to the Edo State Government.
According to the letter, a similar sensitisation exercise was conducted in Edo State during the previous recruitment exercise in collaboration with the state government.
The Army said the initiative resulted in an increase in the number of applications and successful candidates from the state.
However, it noted that Edo still fell short of its required quota of successful candidates, prompting the Chief of Army Staff to direct that the sensitisation campaign be sustained.
“The Chief of Army Staff has directed that the sensitization exercise be sustained in the state,” the letter stated.
The Army appealed to the state government to support the exercise by using local electronic and print media to publicise the recruitment opportunity.
It said sustained publicity would help improve awareness, boost the number of applicants and ultimately increase Edo State’s chances of meeting its recruitment quota.
The sensitisation team is expected to visit different parts of the state between October 5 and 12 ahead of the 92nd Regular Recruits Intake.
Prospective applicants are required to be between 18 and 26 years of age.
The statement was signed by Rt. Hon. Festus Ebea, Commissioner for Public Safety and Security, Edo State.
