The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a woman travelling to Saudi Arabia after allegedly discovering illicit drugs concealed inside a keg of palm oil in her possession.
The woman reportedly told investigators that she received the keg from another person and was instructed to deliver it to someone else upon arriving in Saudi Arabia.
The discovery highlights the tactics allegedly employed by drug traffickers to conceal illicit substances in everyday items and use unsuspecting travellers as couriers.
Travellers have been urged to exercise caution when accepting packages, food items or other consignments from people for delivery abroad, particularly when they are unaware of the contents.
The incident was highlighted in a video credited to Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy.
Further details regarding the quantity and type of drugs recovered, the identity of the suspect and the agency’s subsequent actions were not provided in the available information.
