The Chairman of Sapele Local Government Council, Chief Bright Abeke, has pledged to mobilise massive electoral support for Senator Ede Dafinone ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that his re-election is vital to strengthening Urhobo representation and attracting more development to Delta Central Senatorial District.
Abeke expressed confidence that Sapele would record one of the highest votes for the senator, citing his performance, growing popularity and acceptance among constituents as reasons for his anticipated electoral success.
The council chairman made the pledge on Sunday during a reconciliation meeting between Senator Dafinone and former executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the 11 wards of Sapele Local Government Area. The meeting took place at the senator’s residence in Sapele, Delta State.
According to Abeke, securing a second term for Dafinone would enhance his legislative influence and strengthen his capacity to attract more federal projects to Delta Central, while ensuring that the Urhobo nation maintains a stronger voice in national affairs.
“Dafinone is well-accepted here, and we will ensure his victory. Everyone should reach out to their neighbours and families to support all our candidates. We cannot fight against our own; we must unite and work together to achieve victory,” he said.
Abeke described grassroots mobilisation as a key responsibility of his office, urging party members, former executives and other stakeholders to set aside their differences and work collectively towards the success of the APC in 2027.
He warned that internal disagreements and factional divisions could weaken the party’s electoral chances, stressing the need for reconciliation, inclusiveness and a united front across the 11 wards.
Speaking at the meeting, Senator Dafinone also underscored the importance of party unity, effective communication and sustained grassroots engagement in preparation for the 2027 elections.
The senator urged former party executives to remain active in party affairs, assuring members that their concerns would receive attention through his coordinators across the 11 wards.
“If you encounter any issues, please contact my coordinators in each ward. We are one party, and it would be a mistake to lose the election here in Sapele. Let’s ensure a strong voter turnout; we have the people’s support, and we will succeed,” Dafinone stated.
Highlighting his legislative activities and constituency interventions, Dafinone disclosed that he had facilitated projects in 83 of the 85 wards across Delta Central Senatorial District.
He reaffirmed his commitment to delivering more democratic dividends to the people, insisting that his dedication to legislative responsibilities and constituency development remained unwavering.
“I have initiated projects in 83 out of 85 wards. I am dedicated to my role as a senator, and we will win all APC seats. Other parties cannot compete; they lack the necessary structure,” he maintained.
The senator further expressed optimism that the APC’s grassroots structures, coupled with continued engagement with party stakeholders, would strengthen its chances in the forthcoming elections.
Also speaking, the Delta State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Moses Ogodo, commended the reconciliation initiative and called on former and serving party executives to put aside their differences and work towards securing victory for all APC candidates.
“We must win, and we must do so with a significant margin,” Ogodo declared, emphasising that unity and effective mobilisation would be crucial to the party’s success.
In his remarks, the APC Chairman in Sapele Local Government Area, Mr. Francis Okpigben, assured party members of his readiness to address their grievances and resolve issues capable of creating divisions within the party.
The meeting also provided representatives from the 11 wards with an opportunity to express their concerns, identify challenges and make recommendations on strengthening the party’s grassroots structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Party leaders responded to the issues raised, reiterating the importance of inclusiveness, cooperation and renewed commitment to the party’s political objectives.
Other prominent APC leaders and stakeholders in attendance included Chief Barr. Adelabu Bodjor, Chief of Staff to Senator Dafinone; Hon. Hero Asagba, APC Sapele Local Government Youth Leader; and other party chieftains from across the local government area.
