Nigerian economist and political commentator, Professor Pat Utomi, has challenged Nigerians living abroad who defend the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu despite the economic hardship and other difficulties facing citizens at home.
Utomi questioned why Nigerians in the diaspora who describe the Tinubu-led government as successful or beneficial would not want their families back home to experience the same conditions they publicly defend.
In a pointed message directed at government supporters abroad, the professor asked why their relatives in Nigeria were not enjoying the supposed benefits of the administration if it was truly performing as positively as they claimed.
He also questioned the perceived contradiction between defending the government’s policies from abroad and the unwillingness to have family members experience the realities confronting many Nigerians at home.
“If Tinubu’s administration is truly as ‘wonderful’ as you claim, why isn’t your family back home enjoying the benefits of this ‘beautiful’ government?” Utomi asked.
He further argued that Nigerians living in the country should not be expected to endure conditions that those defending the government from overseas would not want their own relatives to experience.
Concluding his remarks, Utomi invited Nigerians in the diaspora who support the administration to respond to his questions, saying he would welcome their answers.
