The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has dismissed circulating reports claiming he has resigned from his position, describing them as false and misleading.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Ibadan, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Bolaji Tunji, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the minister remains fully committed to his duties.

Tunji criticized the spread of unverified information and urged media professionals to uphold journalistic standards by thoroughly fact-checking before publishing sensitive reports.

The false claims alleged that Adelabu had stepped down to pursue his governorship ambition in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 elections.

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu recently directed all political appointees intending to contest in the 2027 general elections to resign their positions on or before March 31.

The directive aligns with Section 88(1) of the Electoral Act, 2026, and the timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for party primaries.

According to a circular signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, affected officials are required to submit their resignation letters through his office by the stipulated deadline.
