Participants at the just concluded 2-day training on Artificial Intelligence, AI, for journalism in Minna have urged professionals to see AI tools as blessings in disguise rather than as coming to take over their jobs.
They advised journalists not to solely depend on AI tools but to use them ethically to enhance newsroom activities.
The 2-day AI for journalism training organised by the media mentors network brought together 37 participants comprising journalists and other individuals from different fields and academia.
The participants who were exposed to practical sessions on several AI tools, including Grammarly, images, visualisation, video, research, fact checking and background, say they are better equipped, while debunking that AI has come to steal jobs.

For both the coordinator, media mentors network, Niger State, Justina Asishana and one of the facilitators, Maimuna Muhammed, journalists should not solely rely on AI tools but see it as a collaborative development to make their jobs easier and efficient.
They also of the opinion that other professionals should embrace the use of AI while urging the participants to pass on the training to their colleagues in their various organisations.
