Five Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel were killed after an An-32 military transport aircraft crashed during a routine flight in Assam, northeastern India, on June 13.
The IAF confirmed the incident in a post on X, identifying the aircraft as an An-32 twin-engine turboprop transport plane. According to the force, all five individuals on board were serving IAF personnel.
Authorities said preliminary investigations into the cause of the crash are underway, while recovery and site management operations continue.
The tragedy comes just days after a Pakistan Army Aviation Mi-17 helicopter crashed during take-off near Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Pakistani media reports, citing the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), stated that all military personnel aboard the helicopter were killed.
Pakistan’s military media wing confirmed that there were no survivors in the helicopter accident.
Both incidents have raised concerns over military aviation safety in the region, with investigations ongoing into the causes of the crashes.
