Iranian state media are reporting that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been killed, along with several members of his family, in a joint military operation by the United States and Israel, according to multiple news outlets citing Iranian state sources.
State-affiliated news agencies, including Fars News Agency, say that Khamenei’s daughter, granddaughter, daughter-in-law and son-in-law were also killed in the airstrikes on Tehran on Saturday.
Iran’s government has announced 40 days of national mourning, while international reactions and details about the broader military campaign are still emerging.
