Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone, has reiterated his commitment to fostering unity and collaboration among Urhobo people through the March edition of his “Meet-and-Greet” gathering held in Abuja.

The engagement brought together Urhobo sons and daughters from different professional backgrounds, creating a platform for networking, collaboration and discussions aimed at promoting collective development within the Urhobo community.

Speaking at the event, Senator Dafinone emphasised that unity among Urhobo people remains critical to their progress. He noted that their shared heritage should serve as a strong foundation for cooperation, mutual support and collective advancement.

He encouraged participants to interact freely, exchange ideas and build meaningful professional relationships that could contribute positively to the growth of the Urhobo nation.

The lawmaker also urged attendees to be deliberate about creating opportunities for fellow Urhobo people wherever they find themselves, stressing that supporting one another would enable members of the community to grow and succeed in their various endeavours.

According to him, genuine progress within the community can only be achieved when members actively support each other, adding that unity must go beyond rhetoric and be reflected in concrete actions that uplift others.

A highlight of the gathering was the presentation of a book titled Handbook of Skill Acquisition Training and Empowerment Programmes by one of the participants, Dr. Benjamin Irikefe, to Senator Dafinone. The gesture underscored the importance of knowledge sharing and practical initiatives in empowering individuals and strengthening community development.

Commending the initiative, the senator noted that programmes focused on skill acquisition and empowerment are essential for building resilient communities and expanding opportunities for young people and professionals.

Participants described the gathering as more than a networking event, noting that it served as a platform for Urhobo professionals to connect, share ideas and reinforce the bonds that unite the Urhobo nation.

The regular meet-and-greet initiative, according to observations at the event, continues to provide a bridge for collaboration while promoting shared values and aspirations among Urhobo people across different sectors.
