ABUJA — Senator Ede Dafinone, who represents Delta Central Senatorial District, has announced plans to work with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) to revive the long-dormant NTA Community Station in Amukpe, Sapele, describing the initiative as a major step toward strengthening grassroots communication and community development.
The senator disclosed this after a meeting with the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos, where both parties discussed the restoration of the community broadcasting station.
According to Dafinone, the Amukpe Community Station is the only NTA station in Delta State located outside the state capital, Asaba, making its revival strategically important for the people of Delta Central and surrounding communities.
He expressed optimism that bringing the station back on air would enhance access to information at the grassroots, preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of the region, create employment opportunities, support local businesses, and deepen community engagement.
“The Amukpe Community Station is the only NTA station in Delta State outside Asaba. I am optimistic that restoring the station will boost grassroots communication, promote our cultural heritage, create jobs, support local businesses, and strengthen community engagement,” Senator Dafinone said.
He added that he looks forward to collaborating with the NTA and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the successful restoration of the station for the benefit of the people of Delta Central.
The proposed revival of the Amukpe Community Station is expected to improve access to public information, amplify local voices, and contribute to socio-economic development across the senatorial district.
