The Edo State Executive Council (EXCO), led by Governor Monday Okpebholo, has approved the payment of ₦914 million in compliance with a court judgment in favour of Mr. Tony Kabaka, whose hotel was demolished by the previous administration under Governor Godwin Obaseki.
The Commissioner for Information, Hon. Paul Ohonbamu, disclosed this while briefing journalists after the weekly EXCO meeting at the Government House, Benin City, on Friday 26th 2025.
According to him, “Mr. Tony Kabaka took the state government to court and won. Government is a continuum, and this administration inherited that judgment”.
“As a governor who believes that court decisions must be respected, EXCO has today approved the payment ordered by the court. This demonstrates that we have a governor who is thoughtful, law-abiding, and committed to justice anchored on confidence”. The Commissioner emphasized.
