The Edo State Police Command has recorded a historic milestone with the appointment of its first female Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Eno Nkereuwem Ikoedem. Her posting followed the approval of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM.
ASP Ikoedem, an Akwa Ibom–born officer, was commissioned as an Assistant Superintendent of Police in 2022 after completing an intensive five-year training programme at the Nigeria Police Academy. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in English (BA English) and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in English at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).
Her training portfolio includes specialized courses such as the Combat Operation and Counter-Terrorism Course at PMF Training School, Ende Hills, Nasarawa State; the Citizenship and Leadership Training Course, Shere Hills, Jos; the Forensic Analysis Course on Basic Crime Scene Management, Wudil; and the Basic Detective Course, also in Wudil, Kano.
ASP Ikoedem has served in various strategic capacities that have showcased her professionalism, competence, and versatility. Her postings include:
Divisional Traffic Officer – Adesuwa Division
Administrative Officer – Evbuotubu Division
Officer-in-Charge, Crack Squad – Evbuotubu Division
Officer-in-Charge, Confidential – Department of Operations, Edo Police Command
Before her new appointment, she served as Deputy PPRO in the Edo State Command, working under two consecutive Police Public Relations Officers.
Her assumption of duty marks a new chapter for the Edo State Police Command, signaling progress in gender representation and leadership within the force.
