The Energy and Maritime Reporters of Nigeria (EMR), Akwa Ibom State Branch, will today, Tuesday, August 11, 2026, inaugurate new members into the association as part of efforts to strengthen professional journalism and expand its membership in the state.
The inauguration ceremony is scheduled for 12 noon at the EMR State Secretariat, Plot 51, G-Line, Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The event is expected to attract members of the association, journalists and other invited guests as the newly admitted members formally join the EMR family.
Speaking ahead of the ceremony, the State Chairman of EMR, Comrade Harrison Ndifreke, said the admission of the new members came at a time when specialised and responsible reporting of Nigeria’s energy and maritime sectors had become increasingly important.
Ndifreke charged the new members to uphold the ethics of journalism and maintain the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, accuracy and fairness in their reportage.
He urged them to actively participate in the activities of the association, pursue continuous professional development and contribute meaningfully to the growth, unity and success of EMR.
According to him, membership of the association comes with the responsibility to promote credible, balanced and development-oriented reporting, particularly in the specialised areas covered by EMR.
The new members are expected to take the Oath of Membership before being formally inaugurated into the Energy and Maritime Reporters of Nigeria, Akwa Ibom State Branch.
The ceremony is also expected to provide an opportunity for members to strengthen professional bonds and reaffirm the association’s commitment to promoting responsible journalism in the energy and maritime sectors.
