The Federal Government has declared Friday a public holiday in observance of International Workers’ Day.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government.
In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Magdalene Ajani, the minister congratulated Nigerian workers for their contributions to national development.
He commended workers across various sectors for their diligence and commitment, noting that their efforts remain vital to the country’s growth and economic stability.
Tunji-Ojo also urged workers to uphold values such as patriotism, productivity and dedication, describing them as key drivers of sustainable development.
The statement further reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to improving workers’ welfare, enhancing security and creating an enabling environment for economic progress.
While wishing workers a rewarding celebration, the minister called on Nigerians to remain peaceful and law-abiding, encouraging them to reflect on the importance of unity, hard work and collective responsibility in nation-building.
