President Bola Tinubu has appealed to Nigerians to forgive him for any wrongs he may have committed against them, as Muslims across the country commence the holy month of Ramadan.
Speaking on Wednesday at the opening of this year’s Tafsir at the State House Mosque in Abuja, the President called for unity, peace, and spiritual renewal, urging citizens to use the sacred period for reflection, reconciliation, and prayers for the nation.
According to him, Ramadan is a time for humility, self-examination, and rededication to the values of compassion, tolerance, and justice. He emphasized the importance of forgiveness and mutual understanding in strengthening national cohesion, particularly at a time when the country faces economic and social challenges.
The President encouraged Nigerians to pray for continued peace, stability, and progress, noting that leadership comes with human imperfections. He said he remains committed to serving the nation with sincerity and dedication, while seeking the support and understanding of the people.
Tinubu also urged religious leaders to use the Ramadan period to promote harmony and discourage division, stressing that unity across ethnic, religious, and political lines is essential for Nigeria’s growth.
The Tafsir marks the beginning of Ramadan activities at the Presidential Villa, bringing together Islamic scholars, government officials, and worshippers for prayers and reflections throughout the fasting period.
