The Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has filed a N15 billion defamation suit against Adeniyi Adeyemi, Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court.

In the suit, Gbajabiamila is seeking N10 billion in general damages and an additional N5 billion in aggravated damages over what he alleges are defamatory statements made by Adeyemi.

The Chief of Staff is also asking the court to award N200 million as the cost of the legal action.

In addition to the monetary claims, Gbajabiamila is requesting an order compelling Adeyemi to publish a full retraction of the alleged defamatory statements and tender an unreserved apology in five national newspapers.

The lawsuit follows a dispute involving the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), with Gbajabiamila maintaining that the statements made against him were false, damaging to his reputation and deserving of judicial redress.

As of the time of filing this report, Adeyemi had not publicly responded to the suit or the allegations contained in the court documents.

The court is expected to fix a date for hearing in the matter.
