The Edo State Government has confirmed the appointment of Dr. Ebojele Akhere Patrick as the new Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor. The appointment was approved by Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo as part of ongoing efforts to enhance government communication and promote greater transparency.
Dr. Ebojele, a seasoned professional with an extensive background in journalism, public administration, and academia, brings decades of experience to his new role. He has worked with several respected media establishments, including serving as the Edo/Delta Correspondent for Channels Television, and holding positions at New Nigerian Newspaper, Champion Newspaper, and Comet Newspapers.
In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., the administration described Dr. Ebojele’s appointment as a strategic step toward strengthening the government’s communication framework. The statement emphasized the need for clear, transparent, and effective dissemination of government policies, programs, and activities—responsibilities the new CPS is well positioned to execute.
Dr. Ebojele replaces Mr. Fred Itua, who will be reassigned within the government after completing the formal handover process. The government expressed appreciation to Mr. Itua for his service and contributions.
The appointment is widely viewed as part of Governor Okpebholo’s broader strategy to reorganize key governmental offices to boost efficiency and governance outcomes.
