The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced January 16, 2027, as the new date for Nigeria’s presidential and National Assembly elections.
According to a report by TheCable, the electoral body also fixed February 6, 2027, for the governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections.
The announcement sets the stage for the next general election cycle, with political parties, candidates, and stakeholders expected to begin preparations in line with the revised timetable.
INEC is yet to release further details regarding the full schedule of activities leading up to the polls.
