Campaign posters promoting former President Goodluck Jonathan for the 2027 presidential election have appeared in parts of Kaduna, triggering fresh speculation about a possible return to Nigeria’s top political office.

The posters were sighted in several locations across the city on Monday, strategically placed in areas with heavy traffic and public visibility. Commuters and residents reportedly stopped to observe the materials, which quickly became a subject of discussion among locals.

Some of the posters were seen along the busy Ahmadu Bello Way and around Kawo Bridge, where passers-by paused to read the messages displayed.

The campaign materials featured inscriptions such as “One Term to Reset, One Nation to Unite” and “2027: Sai Maimalfa,” a slogan associated with Jonathan. The messages have sparked conversations among residents and political observers about whether the former president may be considering another presidential bid.

A group identifying itself as the GEJ Restoration Movement claimed responsibility for the posters. According to members of the group, the initiative is a grassroots effort aimed at persuading Jonathan to contest the 2027 presidential election.

Supporters involved in the campaign described Jonathan as a respected national figure whose leadership, they believe, could help ease political divisions and tackle some of Nigeria’s economic challenges.

The development has also stirred debate within political circles. Some analysts suggest the sudden appearance of the posters could signal early political manoeuvring and realignments ahead of the next electoral cycle.

However, supporters of Bola Ahmed Tinubu dismissed the development, describing it as a common political occurrence that often surfaces years before major elections.

They argued that the presence of early campaign posters should not necessarily be interpreted as confirmation that Jonathan intends to run in the 2027 presidential race.
