Community leaders and grassroots stakeholders from Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State have passed a vote of confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and the leadership of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC).

The endorsement was made on Wednesday during a strategic engagement session held in Kwale between community stakeholders and Dr. Charles Olisa, representative of the Ndokwa Ethnic Nationality on the DESOPADEC Governing Board.

The meeting brought together a broad spectrum of community leadership, including executives of Host Communities (HOSTCOM), Clan and Community Presidents-General, as well as Community Development Committee (CDC) chairmen from across DESOPADEC’s mandate areas within Ndokwa East Local Government Area.

Speaking during the engagement, stakeholders commended President Tinubu for what they described as purposeful leadership and commitment to national unity, noting that his administration’s Renewed Hope agenda was gradually repositioning the country for sustainable development.

The gathering also expressed strong confidence in Governor Oborevwori, praising his administration for promoting peace, inclusive governance and grassroots-oriented development across Delta State.

According to the stakeholders, the dual endorsements reflected the people’s alignment with the current direction of governance at both the federal and state levels.

The meeting also passed a vote of confidence in DESOPADEC under the leadership of Board Chairman, Olorogun John Nani, and the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Chief Festus Ochonogor, applauding the Commission’s renewed focus on infrastructure development, community empowerment and institutional reforms within oil-producing communities.

Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders, Prince Richard Obi, President-General of Abuator Community, said recent interventions by DESOPADEC had been visible and impactful.

He noted that continued collaboration between government institutions and community leaders would further accelerate development across Ndokwa communities.

“DESOPADEC’s recent interventions across communities are visible and impactful. With sustained cooperation between the Commission and community leadership, development in our area will continue to gain momentum,” Obi said.

In his remarks, Dr. Olisa stressed the importance of continuous consultation and inclusive governance in delivering meaningful development to oil-producing communities.

He assured stakeholders that the impact of the current DESOPADEC Board would be felt across the entire Ndokwa nation, pointing to a number of completed projects as well as ongoing initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life in several communities.

Olisa also urged stakeholders to draw the Commission’s attention to any stalled or delayed projects, assuring that the Board remained committed to ensuring their prompt completion.

He further commended host communities for maintaining a peaceful and enabling environment for multinational oil companies operating in the region, noting that such cooperation had contributed significantly to increased production in the oil and gas sector.

According to him, the development not only benefits the host communities but also strengthens the nation’s economy.

The meeting ended with a renewed commitment to stronger collaboration between DESOPADEC, its Governing Board and communities across Ndokwa East in pursuit of sustainable development in oil-producing areas.
