A community leader and development advocate, Dr. Onyekachukwu Mabel Adinkwu, has described the merger of the Ndoshimili Development Union (NDU) and Ndoshimili Development Association (NDA) as a timely and historic step toward the transformation of Ndoshimili and the overall progress of Ndokwa East Local Government Area (NELGA).
Adinkwu made the remark while speaking at the inauguration of the NDU executives held on Saturday in Aboh, noting that the unification marks a new beginning in the collective quest for a more progressive and prosperous NELGA.
She expressed optimism that the merger would ignite sustainable development in Ndoshimili, commending the keynote address delivered by Prof. Julie Umukoro for clearly articulating the union’s vision anchored on unity, purposeful leadership, and transformation.
“The message of the NDA was succinctly captured in the keynote address, which emphasized that Ndoshimili has chosen unity, vision, and transformation,” she said.
The historic event, chaired by Pharm. (Dr.) Paul Enebeli, she noted, went beyond the inauguration of new executives, serving as a rallying call for all well-meaning indigenes of NELGA to take responsibility for the development of their communities.
Adinkwu stressed the need for collective participation in driving meaningful change, urging residents to shift their mindset from individual interests to collective responsibility.
“If we truly desire a vibrant and prosperous NELGA, we must all be active participants in the process, contributing our quota, no matter how small. We must intentionally move from ‘self’ to ‘us’,” she stated.
She also encouraged youths and women to take leading roles in community development, echoing the keynote speaker’s assertion that youths are the drivers of today while women remain the silent architects of society.
Adinkwu congratulated the newly inaugurated NDU executives, led by Engr. Ikechukwu Onyenokwe, and expressed confidence in their ability to deliver a peaceful, impactful, and development-driven tenure.
She concluded by calling for sustained collaboration with the NDU to build the envisioned Ndoshimili, while reaffirming her commitment to community development.
