The Commander of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Delta, Commodore Shehu Mohammed Tasiu, has reaffirmed the Navy’s commitment to carrying out its constitutional duties with professionalism, fairness, and without bias.
He also assured that host communities would continue to receive adequate protection, emphasizing the Navy’s role in fostering lasting peace and strengthening civil-military relations.
Commodore Tasiu made these remarks while hosting journalists during an Easter gathering, where he expressed appreciation for the sustained cooperation and cordial relationship between the media and his command. He noted that the synergy between the Navy and the press has contributed significantly to promoting peace and security in the region.
He commended media practitioners for their consistent support and understanding, assuring that officers and personnel of NNS Delta would continue to reciprocate the goodwill.
Highlighting the evolving nature of security threats, the Commander acknowledged that challenges remain significant but stressed that the Navy remains resolute and proactive in tackling them.
He further appealed for continued collaboration with the media, adding that greater efforts would be made to ensure that waterways remain safe and accessible for lawful activities.
“In the spirit of Easter, we considered it important to strengthen our relationship with the media, which informed this engagement,” he said, describing the interaction as both timely and necessary.
Reiterating the Navy’s core mandate, Commodore Tasiu stated that his command would remain steadfast in protecting Nigeria’s territorial integrity while supporting host communities to achieve sustained peace and stability.
